Hi folks. New here, new to this machine. I'm doing a resto on it, it turns on and cools, but the power cord desperately needs replaced. Upon inspection, it appears I can take the wood strips off the underside to access the controls, but before I dig too deep, I'd like some input from someone who has done this already. What all is involved in replacing the power cord on my globe top? ...apparently I can't figure out how to add photos properly either....

Photos:
You have to click the "reply" button on the top far right of the reply window. You can't post pics from "Quick Reply".
Having done that, there's a button "Add Attachment" at top right of the new "Create Post" window that comes up.
That gets you a "Add Files" button. Note file size 1 MB max. (You can take a screen grab of your photo, that is almost always less than 1 MB without having to use photo software).
I'm sorry, I don't know about removing the wood trim on a ball top-- .

well, they're sideways, but there ya go. My globe top. Sideways is a software thing. Which means, as a matter of definition, I'm helpless. At least the actual pictures are correct; Thank You.

Welcome to the forum! I like your globe top. Please do be careful with the lines as coldspaces said. One bend too far and you will be gassed out! Also, check the underside of the cabinet. Those cabinets tend to rust out near the legs. Wouldn't want to have to attach a peg leg.

Finally getting some more work done on this thing. Got it opened up and was amazed at how pristine the inside of this CG is. No corrosion at all. The sauder joints on the power cord looked like the just came out of 1935. Speaking of which, I did find a date stamp on the bottom of it from August 1935. Anyway, replaced the power cord, replaced the insulation with all new pink stuff. Rolled it back over and after it sat for a couple days, I plugged it in last night. It fired right up and started cooling. That's just amazing to me.

Here are a few more shots. The stamped serial number, the manufacture date, and a teaser of what it's going to be. No rot, no rust on this thing anywhere except some surface rust on the top of it. Amazing.

Looking good so far. Hunter Green? What's going on with the missing paint on the side? Putting a logo there or what?
Surprised someone hasn't made one look like a Tardis.

I'll keep you posted with updates. Yes, a logo is going there. I'm restoring this for a family member.

Did you remove the liner and replace the insulation?
This model is notorious for the bottom rusting from the inside.
It looks nice in green.

WOW
Yes, like that one. The CG's are built very light weight compared to their CK brothers.
