I normally have the luxury of having the unit hang from an engine host. Gives me lots of room around it to work.

You could, but I'd be worried with that much weight up on top, especially if you have boards that aren't true and could cause wobbling.

Use a 4x4 under the evaporator deck.
I just got my order from McMaster Carr for wiring supplies. I prepped a new wiring harness for a CK2 and used #6 non-insulated terminals on the compressor leads. This will be going onto a CK2B, so the control plug will be reused.

Wish I could watch you do the rewire, someone needs to film you doing it!

Stan,
You can do it. I was just prepping some wiring for another member.

I might need to do a video when I get home of the install. I guess for me, it's laziness. And it would be interesting editing, because like a lot of people, I'm not fond of hearing my own voice in a recording.

I'm sure y'all will, LOL. I just need to find time when I get back on changing the electrical stuff. Thankfully, that fridge is only cooling beer, so it's not a problem turning it off to change the wiring.

Hello, I just joined the group (totally inexperienced) & recently bought my first Monitor fridge CK-2. It works & sounds great, but (I have ordered the shop manual but do not have it yet) I'm wondering if the unit can be completely rewired without cutting the refrigerant lines & degassing. Haven't pulled the head off yet, but a friend has so far nicely rebuilt my old cord using 12G wire. I am hesitant to cut the gas lines on a unit that is working so well at this time, but willing to do what is needed. Any replies are appreciated. Thanks!

No don't cut the refrigerant lines on a running box.... Just replace the wires that are bad...

Read through this section and you will begin to understand how to rewire your unit. It can be done with normal hand tools and without cutting any lines. You can even do it without taking the deck screws out. Just take your time and read through things carefully. You will need a soldering iron.
