I’m glad you got it. No one ever said this was easy. We just said it was possible. Actually, it was fairly easy. The hardest parts were putting the damn shelves in without scratching the inside of the cabinet, and the plug for the cabinet light. Now I'm feeling overly confident to do my other CK, and I think I know what I want for my door insulation, now (ice buildup on the evap on the other fridge is starting to get out of control). At least, this whole job is easy compared to restoring a desk fan made by the same company.

my work is a success. Cleaned up the cabinet with Bar Keeper's friend (per suggestions in my cleaning thread), and now I get to start cleaning up the shelves and whatnot. I'll edit this shortly with pictures and a link on Google Drive. drive.google.com/open?id=1Ys1bosESwMwm3FXFdW752E_CA2VLzqFkNice job with the wiring and the cleanup. There is surprisingly little rust underneath, I wonder if that machine was just lucky and well-cared for.. and lucky to find you csulaguy

Csulaguy Wow! Nice job! Thanks for posting pics. I have the tools, parts and instructions to do this to mine, thanks to Travis.. just haven't had the guts yet.. Looks like you just propped compressor up on 2+4s to do the job? Did u have help lifting it up? Also, did you re use the rely, or install a new one?

Stan I did mine the same way , had a friend help me lift it off onto 2by 4 s on saw horses . It’s heavy and awkward to move. Just be careful of refrigeration lines.

Looks like you just propped compressor up on 2+4s to do the job? Did u have help lifting it up? Also, did you re use the rely, or install a new one? I reused my relay, which I think was a Type R. Unlike the 1-A16, this one (2-B16) doesn't make a buzzing sound. Although, I've also wondered if it's actually the compressor rather than the relay. I placed it on 2x4's when I first moved it into the house, though I'll probably lift up the compressor on the other one by myself when I do that (I actually brought in the compressor by myself when I first got it, and I won't do that shit again!!!). So far, the 2-B16 is working fabulously. Cycles quite a bit it seems, but I also have it set where my cabinet temp is about 36 degrees (as verified by a BK Instruments digital thermometer with K-type thermocouple). And if it helps, y'all can address me by my first name (Paul).

Paul.. So you did the rewire while it was off the cabinet, and on saw hourses.. Got confused cuz one of the pics looks like it was take while still on the cabinet, and just propped up with 2 by 4s. Kind of like what ckfan did.. He used 3 dura flame logs to hold it it just high enough to get between the deck

You can prop it up on the cabinet with boards like I did at first but it seriously limits your movement. If you have a few strong friends and or some normal friends and a dolly you can take it off the cabinet and do a rewire. It’s much easier that way. You can set it on the ground laying on its deck and the dome at an angle. Won’t hurt a thing since the evaporator and lines will be up in the air. So you can either just lift it off with strong people or strap it to a dolly and lay the whole fridge down on its side and then carefully pull the unit out sideways being careful not to go too fast or damage a line.

Stan it’s easier done off of cabinet, while mine was off did some clean up and painting . But it’s your choice if you have some friends to help you lift it off i would do it that way Rewireing is easier set it to your height .

The 4 is a misnomer, and it's actually 1.5x3.5, but 3.5 extra inches was all I needed to work inside. So yes, I did rewire the whole thing. So kinda the same as ckfan, but different. I don't own a fireplace, so no duraflame logs here.

Good point, which is why I put it on the cabinet when I redid it. I'm 6'4, and I was already working on my knees at times anyways. A sawhorse would've been hell, because they're too low to the ground. Now y'all can wish me luck, as I'm trying to find out about yet another one that's for sale, this time, locally in San Antonio.

I don't know why. I mean, you could move the top around a little easier I suppose. Just use 2x4's and be done with it.
