Hello again, I made a post a while back about my ck-2-b16 that had a burnt out motor. While I do still want to try to fix it one day (or at the very least give it to a good home and someone who can), I have been searching on facebook market place for another compressor. While on there i found a 2 door ck for 50 dollars! Even though it was 3 hours away, today I made the long trip to get it. I plugged it in momentarily and it sounds like my old one did when it worked, though a little louder. What are the steps I should take so I can fix this fridge up and prevent another disaster like the one I had before? (and to make it a nice working fridge) I really appreciate how much you guys helped me with my other fridge, even when the conclusion was bleak. IMG-0549.MOV (13.55 MB) IMG-0552_Trim.mp4 (8.25 MB) IMG-0551_Trim.mp4 (10.58 MB) The cabinet is very complete, and has most if not all of its racks. I will take more pictures of the inside and other parts once I get it unloaded! Thanks Andrew

Andrew,
You lucked out on that. I’d suggest you rewire the unit and inspect the relay. There are multiple threads here on those topics. Good luck.

Andrew, You lucked out on that. I’d suggest you rewire the unit and inspect the relay. There are multiple threads here on those topics. Good luck. Thank you. I just got it unloaded and in a spot where I can clean it before I find a place for it inside. The compressor seems to get cold quickly and work fine, though I have not placed it on top yet. I have some questions about some of the parts though. Is the small white tray that is labeled "vegetables" an original monitor top accessory? On the top, there seems to be a bit of missing insulation (the lightweight wood sort of pieces). Do you guys have any recommendation on what should go there (if anything) and what material I should look for/get to replace any missing pieces? Also, the fridge came with 4 racks, but did it originally come with 6? The fridge door latch seems to be slightly broken on one side too. The doors still work fine. Is this foam weather-stripping the original kind? is this the type I should replace it with when I replace the gaskets? Here are some other pictures just for fun too. Oh yeah, the light switch looks like it is a bit bent too. Sorry for all of the questions, I just want to be thorough and treat this machine well. Thank you so much! Andrew

The light circuit is interesting. I suspect it’s aftermarket, but great nonetheless.

As a little update I have ordered the wires and the top gaskets that are between the compressor and cabinet. The wiring will be my first step.

Look in the suppliers section. There are a few different types of gaskets listed. I’ve had good luck with the peel and stick stuff from McMaster Carr.

There is a built in safety inside the control. It is a melting alloy overload breaker. If the motor stalls or pulls too much current, a heating strip will cause solder to melt and cause a ratchet to turn and release the main switch. You reset it by turning the control off and then back on.

The monitor top is officially together (probably for the first time in multiple decades). All it needs now are the door gaskets, the racks (am cleaning still), and for me to repair the door handles.

Thank you guys! I realized I never actually sent a picture of it fully up and running. It runs nice and cold, even though its only set to 4 on the knob! (Im not sure how accurate that little temp gauge is)
