I got the new gasket on. It doesn’t look to bad. Anything’s better that was left of the original lol. I also gave the inside and the racks a good cleaning. That looks like the gasket material I got for my 1931 Frigidaire. It was from Lowe's hardware store. This is what I used. I got it at Home Depot. So I’m sure you can get it at Lowe’s to. The 2 places are right beside each. I tend to go to which ever one is the less busy of the 2 lol. Think it was $6 and some change.

Wow, you have the old fashioned, cool looking box! They have 279 of this brand of listings on Ebay, but none with your neat old packaging.

But now that you mentioned it. You’re right. I just grabbed it cause it looked like it would make a good door seal :-).

It’s been about week and the CA seems to be pretty happy. Gave it a good cleaning. Though I still need to get down in around the condenser fins and clean them out real good yet . That’s On my to do list for this weekend haha. I forgot to mention That I did replace the door insulation with pink fiberglass when I replaced the door gasket. Figured I may as well since I had it apart to remove the old one. It’s holding A temp of 34F with the dial set at 5. On time is just under 4 minutes and off time is 7 minutes. I think the off time could be a little better. Not sure what’s up with that yet. I did have to bleed it. But not very much. Took 3 rounds of purging and it was good to go. I now know what FM smells like lol. ( it actually reminds me of a cleaner I used to use but I can’t quite put my finger on which one it was) Partly through the third purge I started get to MF and stopped.
It has what’s probably the original heater in it and it’s working good. Shows 17 Watts on the kill-a-watt meter I also came up with a way to monitor if the heater is working or not. I have the CA plugged into one of those power saving power strips. What ever is plugged in the master / main outlet on the power strip controls the other 6 outlets on the strip. Being that heater stays on all the time, it keeps the strip on all the time. So I’m keeping a lamp that I normally use all the time plugged into the power strip. If the heater should happen to stop working the lamp won’t work either. Not a perfect way of monitoring the heater. But figure if it would stop working. I’d definitely notice it with in day. Plus it adds the bonus of a 15 amp breaker and surge protection.

That's a good idea to use the power strip! I had thought about a smaller scale design with a light bulb mounted behind a translucent GE logo used as a heater cover! If that logo is illuminated, the heater is good!
And of course you can never have too much surge protection.

I’ve been toying with an idea much like yours. I was thinking of maybe putting light at the bottom of the condenser . Like night light bulbs with clip sockets It would shine a pretty cool pattern up on the ceiling and down on the top on the fridge. Probably something only I would like lol. I’d have to find good way hide the wire tho. Plus Scrape together some of that faded electronics knowledge that’s lost in the dark corners of my brain lol.

Just make sure that whatever you get is as pure (and anhydrous) as possible. At least 99%+. Some of those samples have methanol in with the MF. I'm sure you'll figure out how to get your hands on some of the good sigma-aldrich stuff.
It's good that you have been running it for a while to keep an eye on it

I really wasn’t sure what percentage I needed to get. I figured 99% was what it was going to need to be. I ran the CA for a little bit last night and it frosted up really quick compared to last weekend after I purged it. I was reading trough some of the CA threads last night. I’m thinking that it may be like one of cablehacks CAs where after purging it he would have to let it sit for 12 hours after and then it would be ok again . Time will tell.

Keep an eye on it. Most CA's have a worn seat that doesn't allow the float to operate correctly. That results in the short off cycle. You're learning and whatever it needs can be done with the help of past threads and Cablehack. He knows his CA machines!
