Well, I really didn't think I'd be getting another MT so soon. I've haven't even finished my first yet. But, here I am on the doorstep of another. Based off of my nonexpert analysis and a quick glance to the DR manual, I believe this to DR-2 or a DRA? (someone please correct me) I'll be looking at it hopefully on the 21st. I love the oven evaporators, though for some reason this one is black? Also, the hinges look funny, are they original? s50.photobucket.com/user/zsuttle/library/Monitor%20Top%20DRI swear this isn't addicting, I just had to have a second

Wow, not only does it have a black pig evaporator that I’ve never seen, it also has a CK style float I think! Very weird. The cabinet is super early too with the woven shelves and strange hinges and latch.

The door hinges are also interesting.....

I'll be able to get better pictures once I get it home. What specific model is it?

It’s the same dark blue porcelain they used during WWII rebuilds and it’s an Edison cabinet.

Yes, Edison cabinet. I suspect the dark blue matches oven liners or something else in the 1940’s GE universe.

Sorry, meant more along the lines of what is an Edison cabinet?

It’s just an old, uncommon cabinet variant. I don’t like them particularly. They’re relatively light weight.

Ah, I bet it developed a problem with the float and they decided to replace the evaporator too. Very interesting.

That is interesting. It sounds like a rebuild for sure.

Why rebuild over replacement? The styling and technology changed over the 20 approximate years since it was built. Would they have put SO2 back in? Or would it have been converted to R12?

Wartime. Rebuilt to minimize resources. Consider it being green nowadays. Definitely so2.
