Hello everyone! As some of you may have noticed I am now an Administrator. I am very grateful for this title that I really don't deserve. Thank you Chris and John for this opportunity. I didn't title this post just to toot my own horn however, I have some news for all of you!
As you can see from the attached photo this forum is dangerously close to its attachment limit. The forum is only allotted 2GB for all photos and attachments. That's it. This is why there is a size restriction on attachments. I love to post photo rich posts as much as the next member but there is a limit. Am I saying to cut back on photo attachments? No! I love seeing these great machines. However, something has to be done.
For the past few days I have been setting up an alternative storage drive for members to post new and old photos on. I myself just got done moving nearly all of my old photos over to this google drive. This freed up a whopping 65MB of space. We were even closer to the limit before I did this. You don't have to transfer your photos to this new drive if you don't want to BUT it would be greatly appreciated if you did. All people, even non members, can see your photos on this drive by clicking a link that you can embed in your original post or a new post. It is actually quite easy to do once you get the hang of it. Best of all, there are absolutely no size restrictions! This google drive has a limit of 15GB, that should be plenty for a long, long time. I think that new members will find this handy to post their photos to since they won't have to use cumbersome software to reduce the size of their pictures before posting. So there are a lot of upsides to this new setup. The only downside is that you won't be able to see the pictures embedded in the post itself obviously. This is why I chose to leave a few of my posts alone, those that use pictures to show how to do a procedure for example.
The link for the drive is: drive.google.com/drive/folders/0B8_jm7K-ahMaMUdJQWRpS2lTTDA?usp=sharing
Edit: I thought you could just click the link and be done with it. Apparently you have to sign in before you can add anything. Since this account will only be used by us I see no harm in giving the credentials to the forum.

Once you sign in you can create and add whatever you want.
Once you click that link you will be taken to the folder where I have already put most of my old photos. Go ahead and save that link to your favorites so you can call it up anytime. You can create your own folders and then add any photos you want. Please follow the folder guide as you would follow the sections for posting on this forum. For example: if you post in the DR section, put your new folder and pictures in the DR folder, etc. It is really quite simple. Once you are done adding what you want to add, simply go back to where you added your new folder. Then right click on your folder and select "Get Shareable Link". I have also included a picture that shows this process. I know this may be confusing for some of you and that is ok. Please come forward with any questions that you may have about this new drive.
Also, if you ask (really nicely) I may move your pictures for you if you don't know how or don't have time. It is a tedious process to move many many photos but it will be easy to make new posts, so have at it!
