I've never watched the show but I was expecting body parts lol. I bet that little flat top was using such a minimum of power that the utility company never bothered to turn off the power to the house!

MacGyver!
Season 1, episode 20, 22:40 into the episode on Netflix
MacGyver is in a north african prison to break out some political prisoner (Q from Star Trek NG), and he convinces the crooked warden to let him see the man if MacGyver fixes his rattling refrigerator in the PCP drug lab. For some dramatic reason which keeps the plot going, the warden leaves him alone in the lab full of dangerous chemicals so MacGyver can make a bomb, which will later contribute to the absurd escape. He pulls the wires for the cabinet light and yanks them over to his steel drum on the table. He wraps the wire around a block of ice which will melt and spark the wire on the grounded metal pail, you know, cause he's McGyver and he knows it will melt at the perfect rate to make an accurate timer.
Anyway, it's a dented up CK, and sounds like it is running.
Worth a watch just for this captivating seen of a CK bomb timer!
----------------No Monitor Tops were harmed in the making of this episode.------------

I was watching Sanford and son the other day. I don't watch the show often but I think that this little guy makes several appearances throughout the series. I immediately stopped the video when I saw it. DR1!!! It's not in terrible shape either. Who knows, maybe it is still being used as a prop somewhere. Whatever happened to baby Jane! We saw that a week or two ago, and noticed the same thing.

I don't think so. I wouldn't imagine a DR4 being put on such a "small" cabinet. I would suspect it is a DR35 or something like that. Very cool though regardless!

I would think it's a DR3 or DR35 on a 4 dr cabinet. The other units would have had a front left corner mounted control. I don't have my magic book of DR's with me to verify.

It looks like the top is off center from the cabinet or is that just because of the angle were are looking at it ?

It's an odd angle. I bet it's a 3 series unit. I'll have to watch the damn movie and see more.

Just saw a 1936 CK-2 on a DR cabinet in the 1986 movie "The Money Pit" whilst I was having lunch in a nearby cafe. It appears in all the kitchen scenes. I didn't look quickly enough to see what the frost was like when they opened the door, but it had stuff in it. Nice Victorian house too.

Which part of the movie shows the front of the CK? I only remembered a scene where it is shown from the side. When the faulty wiring makes tiles fly off the walls...

There's a monitor top in the movie Fences with Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. The movie starts out with it on the back porch and as the movie progresses, it gets replaced with a flat top.

It's before the tiles fly off the wall, maybe 10 mins or so?

View AttachmentNice! Cool ck. Interesting that they would replace it with a model so close to what they originally had.
