I forgot to mention that in the one video I watched the OEM compressor builder was brazing all connections. That is what this one got, sorry the pic is not that great. This one got a 1 hour bake today to shrink the tie tape. Before bake After bake Also brazed the new leads on Travis's stator.

Wow that’s great if I ever get up the nerve to rewind one I definitely we’ll be using you as an example . Looking forward to the finish product!

Looks pretty good. Yes, I know I should do my due diligence and read the whole thread, but about how much was it to rewind the motor? I've actually thought about completely rebuilding my DR2. It has a restriction, as the pig evap no longer frosts (or it'll sweat but never truly frost). There's also voltage leak to ground, which makes me think it's not a bad idea to do a full motor restoration.

Paul,
It’s approximately $400 to rewind a stator. The real expense is the labor to open the unit, clean it and assemble it.

I was quoted $625 for a rewind. I had a hard time finding all the materials compatible for hermetics without buying huge quantities. I do know I pretty much spent the $625 but have extra insulation materials left over for more.

Isn’t that $625 quote for the DR1? I apologize for causing confusion in this thread. Paul has a DR2.

I guess I'll talk to David when he comes back to the States, but I might still be interested in rewinding the stator for that, provided I can open, clean and do some of the assembly, myself or with help. I already did the insulation on the cabinet (and most, but not all of it is sanded and primered). It would be really nice to have a fully functional DR2, practically operating like new. I mean, I have the DR3, but that's being reserved for my future milk parlor.
