First of all thank you for having this form. I just acquired a Square top refrigerator which was in storage for a long time. From the looks of it I thought it will be a lost cause. The cover for the compressor is gone The plug cut off and missing off both the compressor and the light along with the gasket missing. I installed a plug going to the compressor and the compressor runs and amazingly it is cooling inside.(Didn’t run it very long)My problem is the fan. The wires coming from the fan is a green black and white with eyelets attached but just hang there going nowhere The insulation just crumbles when I move it. I have learned that they should go to the little relay box where the compressor wires are going and also the fan motor could be a two phase? Is there a way to test this motor? I put 110 voltage to the common and hotwire But nothing happened which is correct for a two phase motor. Can anyone give me any ideas?

There is a thread here, with service manual pages showing how to connect a capacitor to the motor to run it without the second phase from the compressor motor. If you can't get the info there, let us know. By the way, we talked on Facebook about your fridge as well. Hopefully between that discussion and the other info here you can get it going! Sincerely, David

Well tried stripping back fan wire to some clean wire and the insulation just crumbled away. Going tomorrow to pick up the single phase motor and try to remove the condenser enough to change motor out. Going to go by posting here in the forum on how to do the change out. Wish me luck.

Fan selection was a bit tricky for me. I bought the recommended 2 watt fasco unit bearing motor and it sounded like a plane taking off. It’s rated about .25 amps. Ended up with a new old stock packard morrill 2 watt that’s rated at .15 amps. It’s very close to the original speed
I replaced it for the same reason, couldn’t save the wiring. Crumbled to pieces when I tried to strip it.
