Recently while I was picking a former appliance repair mans garages I ended up with some extra condenser fan motors. While sorting them later I realized the 2 Whirlpool #833697 said they were 1200 rpm. I instantly thought they might be a great replacement for the 2 phase motors in our flattops and FEA machines. I knew the 1550 rpm 2 watt motor I had put in the FEA was louder than I liked so tonight I finally got around to trying this motor in my 40 flatop. I have only been running the fan on a test cord as the rest of the wiring is not to great. I am extremely pleased at how this fan sounds. The slower rpm is so much better than the 1550 rpm motors. Here is the coil carefully moved to get at the fan. Not sure why the box says made in USA and the motor says made in China? Pretty sure both boxes had the same motor inside and were new and unused. Maybe the label was made here?

Great find!. I eventually found a Morrill motor rated at 1550 rpm but only .16amps. It runs a lot slower than the fasco motor did. I'll have to keep this in mind for when the fridge gets promoted from a garage spot.

You can search on eBay with that part number off the box and find those.

I checked tonight and found this motor is drawing just under .13 amp. That is not bad. It is slightly underloaded actually but is as close as we will get it think. I was always told that the amps should be kept between 75%-100%. Underloading the motor will also heat up the windings. In this case it's only off by a few % so should do great. Now if only it had the large oil reserve are of some of the original motors.

Now if only it had the large oil reserve are of some of the original motors. I noticed the Morrill motor I have has amazing oiling/bearings. The fan spins slowly forever after it shuts off. I still hope to stumble across a stock fan someday.
