Well it's been a month since turning on the Frigidaire for daily service since the repair of the cold control. I'm happy to report it's been running fine! I was able to find a set of original ice trays, one double tray and two single trays, on eBay as well as an original owner's manual! There were a few anomalies in the very beginning. During the first few days the compressor stalled a few times. It didn't sound like it was locked more like the relay wasn't switching from the start winding to the run winding. I figured it was probably just sticking from non use and left it alone. After those first few days it's been fine. Toward the end of week two I noticed that my drinks didn't seem as cold. I'd been running on the "B" setting of the cold control dial. The owner's manual says that number 1 is normal and that the A, B, and C settings are economy or vacation settings. They're to be used when not storing frozen food and/or if you're going to be away. Like for a weekend. I have the freezer loaded and some drinks in the refrigerator section. I checked the temperature of the refrigerator section and it had creeped up to +39°F. The run times were still the same, just an increase in cabinet temperature. So I adjusted the cold control to the number 1 setting as per the manual. After 24 hours the cabinet temperature was down to +33°F with normal cycling times. It's been holding there ever since. Cycling times are 2-3 minutes on, and 2-10 minutes off. Depending on if I open the door. Power consumption at 70°F room temperature is 111 watts @ 2 amps. I was able to catch one start up watt reading of 1500 watts as well. I've been reading the other threads here with great interest. I've been learning a lot!! I plan to get a spare relay, just in case. There's a few listed on eBay. Rather have one and not need it than the other way around!
