I can tell that this machine was always stored properly. It is in very nice shape. I especially like the script badge and the illuminated control.
The wiring actually looks pretty good. I will echo the caution that others have echoed. Even if the outer insulation looks good, and it does, the inner insulation might be cracking. Not trying to worry you, I just know how GE wiring ages. Frigidaire wiring on the other hand usually ages pretty good oddly enough! That or I just got two unicorns.
Anyway, it is a beautiful machine. You should be proud to have it.

I replaced the power cord with a new grounded cord today (I opted to cut the old cord close to the relay, rather than disturb the relay itself). I'm sure a re-wire will be necessary at some point to extend the life of the unit, but I don't think it's a necessity just yet.

I have the exact same fridge "Porcelain-Deluxe Edition-1940": All I'm missing is the chiller tray and one
bottom drawer and the rack and brace the hold the two drawers in place. Anyone have or know where to find?
On Christmas had all sorts of drinks in it, people asked me how I got the beverages so Cold! they were saying they have never
experienced that before! LOL! Mike

I just bought this exact model. I got so lucky! I believe it’s intact - 2 lower (metal) drawers that have humidity dials, a small metal dessert drawer, and a drawer that goes under the freezer that’s made of milk glass! I do think the handle is missing a small piece on the top though.

I believe not all of them had an evaporator door. Travis may be able to tell you more about which particular models did or didn't. He's a veritable cornucopia of knowldge!

I have a GE TYPE PLB6-40A refrigerator. It is very old but it looks just like antitarian is describing. I needs some rewiring to the relay. It has a GE relay and I need a wiring diagram to get all the wires in the right place. My brother took some of the wires off in haste and I don't believe I can get them back to where they belong. It looks like it has three wires from the motor, three wires from the control mechanism and the two plug wires I don't know where they come out. Any help out there?

I have owned a GE PCB6-40A for over 60 years and it has worked flawlessly for that period. I noticed that it had accumulated a large amount of lint and dust, so I unplugged it for a while to do that. The outlet wiring was so bad I decided to rewire it to just beyond the relay. I spliced new wire from the thermostat and compressor throughout the relay and the outlet cord. It's up working again. The temperature is 34 in air and 28 in the freezer area. I keep beer, soda, and some pickles in there. I only have the top racks in the freezer area a one across the entire refrigerator.
