I finally got the mini fridge back together. I had stripped everything down to bare metal and shot it with self-etching primer, followed with regular primer, then shot it with base coat and clear coat. We did that in my daughter’s garage and her boyfriend used his HVLP gun and compressor. It was my first time painting like this, and while it did not come out perfect, and I probably would not have tried this on a monitor top, I was happy with the results. I also polished every piece of hardware on the unit. Many pieces were rusty and I needed to clean them with a wire wheel before they could be polished. I also replaced the insulation and the rear seal and the hose that covers the refrigerant line in the back. With all that done, Mike came over Saturday and helped me slide the machine back into the cabinet. Here are a couple shots of the process off sliding the refrigerating unit back into the cabinet. It is definitely a two-person job made much easier with an electric hoist.

The sense of triumph I experienced from seeing it all back together was tempered somewhat when we plugged it back in and fired it up. The compressor started and it runs nice and quiet, but unfortunately, does not cool. Apparently, it has lost its charge since Mike had it running a few months ago. Therefore, we loaded it into his truck to take back to his shop to see if he can figure out where it is leaking. I still have some R12, so if he can do that, we should be able to get it up and running. I consider myself fortunate that he is so close by and willing to keep helping me with this.
