Bet it weighs one million pounds, uncrated An puts out a few parts per million of CO. Did it vent outside I hope?

I'm willing to bet it doesn't vent outside.
Neither did many of the Clow Gasteam radiators like shown in Jerry's apartment on Seinfeld. They had optional "vented" ones but seems almost no one installed them. Clow Gasteam is a steam radiator with a built in gas burner and it creates its own steam.

There was a kerosene fridge at a beach house I stayed in back in 1981. They used to be very common in Australia because of lack of power mains in many localities.(Much easier to find a kero fridge here than a monitor top!). It was a typical round shoulder 1950's design. It was in the kitchen and did not vent outside at all. There was simply a chimney that ran up the back of the cabinet and opened at the top. From what I recall, the smell wasn't hugely noticeable, but like any kerosene burner, you have to keep the wick below the point where it starts producing visible smoke. As for the perfomance, well, it kept things cool but not as good as a compression/expansion cycle fridge. I wasn't particularly impressed, and I don't recall it being able to freeze, but it could have needed a good clean around the burner. The flame burned continuously. We were there a week and I think I must have refilled it at least twice.

A friend of mine has one of these. It's impressive, but stupid heavy. At least a double door monitor top comes apart, not this beast!

My friend is also collector to the point of being a hoarder. If I can get pictures I will. It's older than the one in the manual. It doesn't have the deco trim. When it was bring moved, they figured it weighed 900lbs. There were 4 good size men on it.
