Hey everyone,
I am taking advantage of the long memorial day weekend and am going up to St Louis to pay Travis another visit. I am going to be cleaning house and bringing home 9, (no that is not a typo), old fridges. All of them are really interesting, a couple of them are very rare. And one of them has already stolen my heart and will take a place of pride next to my CK monitor top. With so many to choose from, I will have to play musical fridges once I get them all properly ready to run. Most of them just need a little love (gaskets, wiring, paint, etc). All of them are supposed to run anddrive cool! I will post some pics once I get them all settled in. Fortunately I have a plan on where to put them all. Only 2 will end up in my shed. Oh, and I'm also getting a really neat mid 30s GE stove, complete with its original instruction manual! It even has a picture of a CK monitor top I believe! The icing on the cake is that one of the flat tops that I will be getting has the same exact badge as the stove. How cool is that?!
Oh, and I need not forget. I'm also getting a tidy CK2 for my friend Drew (he is being very nice and is going to help me). He is the guy that some of you may remember from a few months ago. He bought my1957 1955 (he found the dates in the door liner) Westinghouse. He is the guy with the long hair that looks ridiculously tall when compared to the fridge I sold him. He wanted to up his game and step into the world of monitor tops. He is thrilled to be getting a unit similar to mine.
I'm also getting a 1935 Westinghouse for another friend of mine. He has always wanted a nice old fridge but has never gotten the chance to acquire one. After a failed attempt at bringing life into his grandmother's 1940s Montgomery Ward refrigerator he has always been sad about not being able to get his hands on some old, cold steel. For those curious, the MW had a blown out header tube on the condenser coil below the cabinet. Too bad, I've never seen another one like it. It even had a stick of margarine from the 60s in it that still kind of looked like margarine. (This is why I only use butter).
This is going to be a very fun weekend. I hope everything goes according to plan. I still have to breathe life into my freezer first. I will keep everyone in suspense as to what the other models that I am getting are. You will not be disappointed!
