Hi This is my first post. Looking through this section I see there's a lot of threads about early 50s GE combination fridges that have cooling issues. The problem with mine is it sat turned off for 20+ years and is not cooling I also have a 1940s frigidaire Montgomery ward single door that doesn't cool either. The owners son told me both fridges worked fine the last time they had power to them. They have been plugged in since the early 50s but the building had the power shut off over 20 years ago. I would really like to get these going again if it's possible. The compressor on the GE turns on and can hear what sounds like water dripping in the freezer compartment which I assume is refrigerant in the evaporator. But after 2 hours of running still isn't cooling at all. Same with the frigidaire, let it run for 2 hours and nothing? . I bought bullet pierce valves, vacuum pump, gauges and 3 14oz cans of r 12 and 2 12oz cans with oil mixed with the r 12. I considered purchasing red angel AC stop leak which acts as a lubricant for the system unless it finds a leak and welds the leak spot. That dripping sound in the ge makes me think it has some refrigerant in it while the frigidaire just runs. With the frigidaire if there's nothing in it I'll just pull a vacuum and let it set and see if it holds but since the GE has a secondary system I'm not too sure about evacuating capturing and pulling vacuum. I want to make sure there aren't any leaks bad enough that I'll be letting the refrigerant out wasting it and damaging the ozone. And since I'm new to refrigerators do they need oil added with the refrigerant i can't find anything that's very clear about that. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. Mike
