This is typically too new for me, but I was fascinated how it worked. I haven't quite figured out how to unload it. It really does open in either direction. I am hoping a good cleaning and waxing will improve it.

They are a very interesting mechanism. When I had one, I studied it thoroughly. It works just like the hood of a 1950 Buick. Each side has two hinges and two latches. The handle, through a VERY elaborate linkage unlatches one side or the other depending on which direction you move it.

I have to save them from all the white trash that want to put beer kegs in them and clueless hipsters that want to defrost them with sharp objects.

I'm glad that you specified "clueless" hipster. That would account for most hipsters actually. Some people consider me a hipster but I'm just a little too outside of their idea of normalcy for that... At any rate, it is a very neat fridge!
