Got my new heaters today from Phoenix. Installed both in my DR1s, though I only have one extension cord available to plug into the control. Resistance measures about 0.947K ohms. We shall see how well they work out; they are the exact same dimensions as the ceramic units that came out.

How do they look Paul compared with the Nordic? Are they metal encased . The Nordic heaters seem to run a little hotter than listed . We’ll keep us informed we are always looking for good suppliers.

I had one powered on briefly (as in 20 seconds). Got hot, but I didn't run for a crazy amount of time without a way to dissipate heat. The price was pretty cheap, though. In fact, EVERYONE was cheaper than Nordic in quantity. I wonder where Nordic gets theirs from, as their emails to me were mostly in Spanish. The Phoenix heaters I got were engraved with the supplier I actually ordered them from, but they came from a plant in Del Rio, TX (which is a good 120 miles from where I live, and is a border town). Phoenix was telling me there are less than half a dozen heater suppliers, and all the brands are "authorized distributors." That makes sense, so who knows if Nordic gets theirs from the same source.
And yes, these are metal encased. I'll try and take some photos when I get home and stick them on google drive.

These definitely came from Canada and are engraved with NSI, 25W 125V, and the date of 08/2018 which is the month I ordered them.
The only problem was one of my own making. I had entered the order on their website more than once and the order never went through. Apparently, in frustration, I fat-fingered the size of the heater casing when I finally got the order done. Therefore, my heaters are smaller than expected. I was able to wrap one in metal foil to allow it to fit properly into the heater well and have good thermal conductivity.
It draws exactly 25W and works excellently.

I need to take photos of mine, but they look exactly the same. Had it plugged into my DR1 for a week while I was out of state. Started it up last night, and it sounded so quiet, I thought it transformed into a CK. I only paid $23 each, and shipping was pretty cheap. In fact, 5 of them cost me about $131. They are also engraved the same way as yours.

I have a feeling there is some machine which makes these heaters, based on parameters the operator puts in the unit. Probably companies like Nordic and the company you used have invested in that machine and are making a business selling heaters. There is probably only one maker of the machine that makes the heaters - so they are all similar.

Actually, quite the contrary. I'm told that these companies are just brokers/"authorized distributors", and there are other companies who actually make the heaters. Mine came form Del Rio, which is a border town. Thus, it was outsourced. And FWIW, most of my email correspondance from Nordic was in Spanish. Phoenix told me that there are only about 3-5 companies in North America that make cartridge heaters.

I used OEM cartridge heaters when replacing heaters on 2 of my monitor tops. I used Item # K330049. (3/8) 0.375" X 2.0" 120 V. I know the original was 1/2 in, but the second replacement required me to insert a long flat tip and break the ceramic cartridge in 2 pieces to get out...it was too tight and would only come to the opening. I don't know if the welded part around the insertion hole had weld restriction...so I felt the 3/8 cartridges were better. And both have worked perfect during initial heat up period before start-up.

I need to remind everyone that you don't always have to have a custom made heater. You do however have to make a sleeve like I did for the New Jersey DR3. There are a lot of heaters available that are smaller. The sleeve I made did a good job of dissipating the heat as far as I could tell. monitortop.freeforums.net/thread/1361/new-jersey-dr3?page=8
