While the 50's combo fridge in this thread continues to wait I have been able to buy the necessary tools and equipment, gain the skills to repair and sell two modern fridges that use 134a that had leaks. In a round about way I'm getting there.

This update though is more of a question on the blue '48? GE that is also seen in the thread. I noticed a week ago that when I touched the handle there was a tingle of electricity. A voltmeter confirmed that the handle was charged and I've been able to isolate it to only when the compressor is running, never when it's not. Sometimes when the compressor runs you can't feel it and other times it's enough to be uncomfortable. I tried grounding the chassis to the outlet and that popped the GFCI. On a non-GFCI outlet it pops the breaker. Since then I've kept the fridge unplugged.
When I disconnected the wiring from the relay and tested the contacts on the compressor for continuity to the frame I had zero continuity. There was still continuity from either plug blade to the chassis though, ~2.23 M ohms. I'm hoping that means the problem isn't in the compressor's windings. I then disconnected the wires going to the thermostat and measured continuity from the blade to the chassis and resistance increased to 5.35 M ohms. Then I measured continuity from the screw connectors to the body or housing of the thermostat and got the least resistance of my testing, 15.78 K ohms.
I'm guessing this means that the thermostat a big part of the problem. As part of the thermostat housing is rusted through I wanted to replace it, but I can't find the part online.
Here is what's stamped on the thermostat from top to bottom:
CR1057L100G
Cat. No. WR9X22
4-18-52 <= does this means the fridge or at least thermostat was made April 1952?
I did come across a Mars Product Cross Reference pdf www.marsm-a.com/images/Product-X-Ref-new.pdf
searching on the CR1057L100G which references a 26245, from there I found this website which lists a GC503 as well as a GC508 without any pictures so I've hit a dead end on finding the right replacement part.

As always, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
Dan
