Just got this real neat CF. Opened the crate and ran for several hours. Am going to loan it to my next door business in exchange for them storing it for me in conditioned space. I am way past out of room!! Hard to believe it was running with this control in it!

It has a great frost line and a noisy evap. Notice the big rubber boot around the float tank in back of evap. SO2 system

Very, very nice! The 1937 CK's used that cabinet. Was the original thermostat actually working? Looks like poor contact caused a chain reaction of overheating around the contacts. How have you adapted the new control for the two knob setup? It should last a lifetime now you've done the electrical restoration. Has anyone ever heard of a CF with a refrigeration fault?

That's correct the connection either in the contacts or the wire connector terminals was bad and roasted everything and the connecting wiring. Yes it was still running but I am sure it was not controlling temp. Both knobs still in place but the left on-off knob is not functional. But it still turns. Installed a Ranco stat to the right knob and it is indexed to the reference plate perfectly. It has the off function which occurs when you rotate the knob just past setting #1. I had a good control but saving it for a Monitor top. Seemed a waste on this one.

Nice looking box on the year CF. Sure did need the control replaced. What Ranco control did you use?

It sounds like you've mounted the Ranco inside the old enclosure; is that right? I'm curious how you've done this because it looks completely original from the front. Does the GE knob fit on the Ranco with no modification?

Seems a shame to abandon the original control.
Little duct tape, little body putty-- Should be as good as new.........
