I head about this refrigerator last winter and was surprised that there was one in my town. The house it was in has been for sale for over a year and recently sold so I have been watching to catch the new owner at home. I found out he has the complete matching kitchen, built in stove, cook top, exhaust hood and the refrigerator. He is trying to sell it all for $1000 and does not want to split it up. The former owners ex-wife had already told me it didn't work when they bought the house in the late 60's. She said at the time they were told it could be fixed but they never fixed it.I stopped and looked at it today and gave the new owner a free opinion of what was wrong even though I can't buy the whole kitchen. It does start and run but is out of Freon. As you can see in the pics it has a line tap on it so it must have had a leak way back when. If he does not have luck selling the whole set he may try to make a deal with me for the frig. I sure don't need it but it is in good shape for its age. I am afraid that the leak may be behind the freezer walls though which may be a hard fix.

I saw one of those at an estate sale house a few years ago (working, and full of food). I also liked the house, but it was in a hot neighborhood that's gradually getting transformed into ultra modern mini-mansions. The house was later demolished, and I wish I had asked about it at the sale. Sometimes they will sell fixtures if they know the house will be demolished, or renovated.

They sure are unique. If by chance I do end up with it I can see it hanging on my basement wall. The wife wont like the color though so I would have to paint it.
Not sure I would want to paint it though, it will clean up real nice they way it is.

There's really little point in having that if it isn't turquoise, pink or sunny yellow as original. Your wife needs to embrace retro design!

It is really in too good of condition to paint it though, should be kept original. I can see the owners point about wanting to sell the whole set.
