This CK-2 machine came in from across country for diagnosis. It has been in the same family for about 30 years and recently started losing frost line and eventually stopped cooling. The owner lives in California and was shunned by all repair businesses except for one; who condemned it and would not make a repair attempt. The video shows the troubleshooting and repair. Sincerely, David

Great video! What refrigerant did you use to recharge? Hi Allan. Glad you found it enjoyable to watch. For the CK and all other GE Scotch Yoke machines, R152A is a perfect SO2 replacement. That is what I used for this machine.

Where are you sourcing the 152a? I searched but can’t find. Has it been tested in the DR units?

Where are you sourcing the 152a? I searched but can’t find. Has it been tested in the DR units? Hi Allan. R152A is sold as a cleaning product or keyboard duster / air duster cans. The Falcon Dust-Off brand is pure R152A. It is extracted via a R12 style can side puncture tap. There are few DR's charged with it. One of them is my DR-1 which was one of the first. It's still going after 4 years without any concerns. One very important point with R152A is the lower liquid density. You must be sure the float mechanism is completely purged of all NCG after charging. You'll probably need to purge NCG two or three times after charging. Mine required this during the day of charging but after that has gone 4 years without any maintenance at all.
