One of the local family restaurants has had this Hussman cooler in it as long as anyone can remember. Not sure of the age but it is old. Over the years I have worked on it I have replaced the compressor twice, evap fan motor once and cleaned the condenser countless times. Also about 15 years ago pulled the evap rebrazed two joints and recharged with r-12, it has never leaked since. Now some of the hinges are so bad that the doors can't hang straight. The misalignment of the latches with their catches is also taking its toll as one of the latches is worn clear out. The owner would love to find replacements but the modern parts that look like they may be addaped will cost to much and take too long to put on. Looks like the hinges attach inside of the doors and would require complete disassembly of the doors to replace with like. Anyway I don't suppose anyone has an idea on age based on the style of hinges and such do they?

Haven't seen one of those since I was in grade school. I worked helping the cook. And I would stock that that cooler with milk every day. Pretty heavy duty looking hinges and latches. I don't know where to get them though.

It is too bad the hinges attach in a way I can't remove them fully with out so much work. They look to be solid brass and could be brazed up and redrilled maybe.

I started there in 68. I know it was still there as late as 78. School is gone now. But I sure recognize those latches. Rotating and milk inventory every day and stocking every 3rd day during the 8th grade. Opened that thing thousands of times. It was old then, but it worked fine. Cook fed me good.

Sounds like you were a hard worker and the cook appreciated it.

Yup. Mrs. Gidge. Nice old lady. A drill Sargent voice and those scarry cat eye glasses. LOL.

The above mentioned sources had my exact 75 yr old hinges and latches. Their source had bought the rights to manufacture them. It may be the case here. Also, is this fridge wood underneath? I have found with mine that the moisture can rot the frame a bit and the screws loosen and them the whole door no longer seats correctly. Miniwax makes a wood hardener I've used, then I've stuffed the hole with wood putty and re-drilled the hole. It works like a dream if that's the problem.

Case does not have any hinges or latches that are the same for this one. Plus the owner won't spend the money to replace with something else.

If you have the problem with the hinges, you can easily get it replace, there are various style of hinges available in the markets, select the one which is best suitable according to your refrigerator. Or else the some of the experts of HVAC companies such as airdexinc also provide the services for replacement or repairing.
