Greetings. I got a new friend at the auction about an hour ago for the princely sum of $10. It appears to be a Westinghouse Y-8153. Mostly complete, but not quite sure. it even has the weird integrated butter keeper dish. The question is, does anyone know of an approximate date or diagrams for it?
The best part so far is that it passed preliminary electrical checkout (no ground faults/ compressor resistance looked good) and got cold enough in 5 minutes to shut off at mid scale. Granted it is 31F outside right now. If there is a Westinghouse forum somewhere, I cant find it.
Now to look for gasket material...

Wow, that's a very nice Westinghouse you have there, especially for ten dollars! Excellent score! Looks like a late 40s model. One place you can check out for the door gasket is Antique Appliances in Georgia. They have all different kinds of gaskets on their website. It's sold by the foot. For other things, like the freezer door, try Ebay and Etsy. I've had pretty good luck finding parts for my 1950 Frigidaires on those websites. Be patient and keep looking for the parts you need. Glad you were able to get it and thanks for sharing the pictures!!

Wow; excellent find for $10 that is for sure! As for the diagram, I have a "generic" one which shows how the Westinghouse integrated thermostat / start-relay works and connects to the compressor. It isn't specific to any one model and shows the compressor, thermostat, and condenser fan (if you have one.) Westinghouse_basic_Wiring.pdf (606.8 KB)

Thanks, David!
I'm waiting on grommets from HomeDepot before I start. 90 mile round trip if I drove. The wiring looks pretty tight in the control area, so that looks like the only way.
