Oh, wow! Me, too. A 1927(?) Monitor top. I've been talking with Carolina of Carolina's Antique Appliances in East LA. She wants $4000 - and she only fixes the cosmetic stuff! Mine runs, but I don't know a thing beyond that. I have a 1920s Hotpoint Automatic Electric stove, too - and I can't find anyone to re-wire it.

Congratulations on the new old fridge ! Yes antique dealers are in another world when it comes to these old fridges . You can find all your answers here on the forum, but you well have to do some reading. Id start by downloading the dr manual from here or just reading it,to get more aquatinted with your fridge. If it is working and gets cold , that’s a good start. The drs have a heater in them that probably needs replaced . Door seals also . Look in the dr section it we’ll explain a lot . People here are more than willing to help, but we get tired of people not welling to do some reading them selfs .

If it's an original pair of cabinet and cooling machine then yours will be a DR machine. One of the very earliest ones, at that. If you want to share a few pictures that will help with giving better advice since the years and models often get confused. The price of $4000 to "cosmetically" restore without any sort of rewiring or technical checks is absurd and very typical of the businesses in your part of the country. It's a very unfortunate thing, but there have been multiple fridges sent across country from CA to get repaired due to a lack of qualified shops in that state. All the info is available. If you're not capable of that, then you could reach out to other repair shops around the country who can do restoration work including mechanical refurbishment. Sincerely, David
