Hi, I’m new to the forum and have questions about my monitor top GE as to what model and year it is. It seems to cycle, but gets too cold. The temp control is turned down to 1 so I can’t make it less cold. Any thoughts? I’m not sure how to add pics so I’m at a loss, but I believe it’s a CK model. The serial number tab on the back corner only shows a number and nothing else Thx

That will help with identifying it!

Here are some pics of the fridge Awesome! That is a CK-1 machine. The width of the evaporator gives away the "1" size of the cooling machine; as well as it being a CK model. The size "2" evaporators are about twice as wide, but the same height. The construction of the evaporator makes it a CK machine. There is a similar-appearing CA machine, but the evaporator is constructed differently with a heavy aluminum shelf versus the all sheet-metal construction of yours. The cabinet is probably original to the cooling unit. The CK and CA cabinets were similar, but you do have a size "1" cabinet and a size "1" cooling unit. The width of the cabinet compared to the cooling unit condenser drum give away that it is a matched CK-1 set. The left-hand hinge cabinet is very uncommon! The vast majority of them have the handle on your left side, facing the door whereas yours has the hinges. The only slightly negative comment I have is that it appears to be a painted cabinet as opposed to a porcelain enamel one. The CK machine is extremely reliable. It is one of the most highly engineered refrigerating machines ever made. It's an SO2 system with a high-side float and scotch-yoke reciprocating compressor. About the only issues these ever have is the start-relay wearing and needing to be rebuilt, or the thermostat wearing and needing service, as you have seen. The thermostat is completely mechanical. There is nothing electronic in it. Normally, the only thing these need is to be cleaned and lubricated, and have a calibration adjustment. I have made a few videos and will share a link. The basis of the adjustment is to take the knob off, rotate the shaft to a warmer position; and then put the knob back on. This gives you more range to adjust it warmer. But it's best to clean the parts and re-lubricate them first, since that can make a difference too. https://youtu.be/ZfpcE977o_0
