I have what I believe is a CK model with the single temperature control on the monitor top. It is in excellent working condition except for 1 thing. The spring in the door handle seems to have broken. It still opens & closes fine but the handle is now loose. How do you get to it to fix it & Is it a spring that is a problem. The handle is horizontal not verticle. Thanks, Mark

Often the spring breaks because the pin which attaches the handle to the bracket has worn and allowed the spring to bind. There should be a piece of chrome trim around the handle which can be removed. Then, under that, there are three screws which attach the handle to the cabinet door. Note very well that those screws are a nonstandard and obsolete thread pitch, so be extremely careful not to damage or lose them! Once the handle is off the door, you should be able to see the damaged parts. It will take someone with good metalworking skills to rebuild the worn parts and fabricate a new spring. Sincerely, David

Thanks for the info David. I did take the cover off, but that's as far as I got. I have a machinist friend that may be able to help me with the rebuild. Haveing a broken spring doesn't really affect the operation of the handle, it still closes securely. I'll have to take it off & check it out.
