Have always wanted a monitor top. Found one that is missing the shelves, appears to be in decent shape and said to work, will verify that.He is asking $495 what’s the going price for one of these and are shelves available?

It looks nice from the picture . I WOULD ASK TO SEE IT RUN They we’ll always say the cord is to bad to try . At that point it’s negotiable , because if the motor is shorted it’s not cheap to repair . As far as price it’s negotiable ! Being said I’ve had a ckb16 for several years in my house for several years no problems. But I went completely through it inside and out (my aviator) and it works great !
Side note I have a dr with a shorted motor if interested I well give you free, but you well have to come and get it !

I appreciate the response, and the advice. He said it ran when he put it in his garage for storage. So we shall see. Where abouts are you located?

That is a decent example of a CK Monitor Top. Prices are always regional, and I am talking for a southeastern US perspective since I live in Alabama. In my area, $495 is very high for that one, considering it is missing the shelves, and the wiring has not been replaced. Nobody anywhere has a hidden stash of parts for these. You'll have to deal with a shelf maker to get the shelves for it; or locate another parts unit. Getting shelves won't be as simple as asking for them here. The CK and CA units came with rubber cord used throughout. It deteriorates over time and gets hard and brittle. Rewiring them is necessary for safe operation and it is a somewhat involved job. The cord alone cannot be replaced without disturbing the remainder of the wiring; which will usually crumble. This is a painted cabinet; as opposed to porcelain enamel. The painted cabinets aren't as valuable as the porcelain ones. Having said that, I think you should purchase it if you like it and have the money set aside. My points above are mainly to help you have bargaining leverage with the seller. In my area, that would be approximately a $200 item if and only if they can show that it runs and cools properly. By that I mean that all the channels in the evaporator become covered with a thin layer of ice after 10 or 20 minutes of running. If it's not developing frost by that point, then there is likely something wrong with it. Sincerely, David
