Gang,
Help! About a week ago the door spring to the freezer door on my Kelvinator Moist Master (maybe a 1948 -52?) broke. This is an inside freezer door that that has a long wire that is spring loaded into the door hinges in a manner which I would guess is typical of other makes with a upper inside freezer door that runs across the top. The wire fits into the inside hinge barrels and has U shape in the middle where it also attaches inside the door. A friend of mine repaired the broken end on the wire, but I am too stupid to figure out how to load the spring! In the easy-to-install position, the spring load is backwards i.e. opens the door. I cannot put enough tension on it to wind it by hand, so I am stumped. Can anyone give me the answer? I am sure these wires were replaced in the field and that there is a simple way to do it. I took pictures if they would be helpful.
Thanks!
Rex

Just a WAG, flip the spring end for end. Without seeing it, I am not sure.
