I've had a CK-2-B16 fridge in decent working all original condition that we bought from the original appliance store that sold it new, had it turned back in (some kind of trade out for different model) and had it sit at their shop until we bought it around 2017/18. It was plugged in to test when we bought it, and it made ice quickly without any problems. We've had it off in storage until we could get to it, so now we are getting it cleaned up and replacing what is needed to get it in good working condition. I've had to repair the damaged door handle (broken and missing parts, I'll post what I did to get it fixed and how it looks now in another post), and am now rewiring everything. My question is on the start relay. I've taken it out and it looks decent inside. I've cleaned it up a bit and am trying to figure out a good way to test it. Does anyone have any recommendations to test if it is good? I've tested the coil to be between 0.1 and 0.2 ohms. I would have thought it would be higher, but as small as it is maybe not. Does anyone have any information on testing these old relays? I have a Supco R081 just in case, but if i can still use the old relay since it looks in good condition and the unit was purchased running, I would rather keep the old relay. Next I have to lift off the top and rewire the wiring to the compressor. I've searched online and through this forum, but I can't find much in testing these old relays, only the new relays with NO and NC circuits, etc.
Thanks!

Sounds like your coil is perfectly good. That coil works in series with the motor's main winding. It actuates based on current, as opposed to voltage for most other relays. The relay should close and open, once, each time the motor is powered on. If it's doing that then it's OK.

Ok, great. Thanks for the info! Once I get the rest of the wiring finished, I'll give the old relay a go. It would be great if I can continue using it. Thanks again.
