Hi all, I stitched the available scans of the DR, CA, and CK service manuals into PDFs and ran OCR over the images, so the text should be searchable. The results aren't perfect with respect to the OCR (particularly for the DR manual), but fairly decent. Right now, they are up here: app.box.com/s/9rb25mbrwmxr1x8ouwa1I'm not sure if they will last forever at that URL, so if somebody wishes to host them elsewhere that would be fine.

It would sure be great if these could be put in the Reference Section for Manuals. The links that are there do not work. I found this link last night, but failed to save my downloads. I spent an hour searching for this link again this morning before I finally found it. These are incredibly helpful manuals.!!!! Thank you!!!

You're right, we need to get the manuals organized better.
What links didn't work for you?

Chris and Cablehack,
Would it be possible to rescan the "Servicing Hermetic Units" GE section again? I know I sent a copy of that manual to you with the binding cut off. I made some larger copies of that section, before I mailed the original. Once the yellowed originals were on new white paper, the results were great!

A problem with hosting the manuals on the forum is the file size. The ones I host on my own website are page by page scans and will always be there, but the pdf's that Birkie did are on a public site that could disappear. It would be nice to find a permanent home for them that's accessable to all.

Yes I can do that, but unfortunately because of my awful scanner, the quality won't be any better than this members.iinet.net.au/~cool386/ge_service/N&C%20Introduction.zipThe GE section presently available for download was done by a member of the Yahoo group a long time ago.

We need to find a place to hose the three PDFs and we need to put the links all in one thread.
Should probably also put them in a thread in each section as well, sort of like it us, but put the PDF link in each as well.

I would be happy to scan these for you or Chris then. I have one loose set of copies of the GE section.

It seems that the link that worked for me has been brought up to the top. I was able to download the pdf files to my computer so thank you all very much. Amazing information!!! Here is one of the links that will not work for me. members.iinet.net.au/~cool386/ge_service/N&C%20Introduction.zip It seems that there were others listed on the reference area, but it looks they perhaps they have been removed. Or... I'm just getting old and slow to learn my way around a new website. Thanks again for having this site available.

Nothing has been removed. All the downloadable manuals are available here members.iinet.net.au/~cool386/ge_service/ge_service.html, or in pdf form for the three series of fridge from here, app.box.com/s/9rb25mbrwmxr1x8ouwa1Regarding members.iinet.net.au/~cool386/ge_service/N&C%20Introduction.zip, try removing the %20 and leaving a space. It could be whatever you're downloading on is not interpreting the %20 as a space. If that works let me know and I'll rename the file.

Funny how I never noticed this thread and stitched them myself about a year ago. I have a similar thread asking who scanned the original images into JPEGs, as I'd like to stitch together a higher res version, which would be nice for zooming in for greater detail in control illustrations on the DR.

Ah, there is version at archive.org that is higher resolution. I'm not sure where it came from (probably different source images), but it is nice: archive.org/details/GeneralElectricRefrigeratingMachinesDRMachinesMonitorTopProductManualIn the "download options" box, there is a PDF option.

Thanks Aaron. IT's a 90MB download, so hopefully it's better than my 18MB PDF.
