i picked this up a couple months age. i saw turbo post about these tiny porcelain exterior refrigerators. this one they put a dr-2 size unit to boot. also says icing machine on the badge. maybe overkill. the porcelain on the outside is in very good shape.

Very cool. That is actually a DRA-2. It was the first apartment sized model. The DR1 replaced it.

Yeah, very uncommon and early. Strap-hinge, left side hinge, porcelain, DRA2 machine... you got a unicorn there!

hey turbo, i picked up a ck35 over in your neck of the woods monday. think it was a scrap yard they were cleaning up. cools good but has a replacement control on it. it has a GE factory rebuild tag on it. looks like it was rebuilt in 47 ? but definitely has SO2 in it. did they rebuild these in 1947 ?

I really don't know what years GE was doing rebuilds. They developed a dual evaporator FEA machine for a replacement; therefore I expect the rebuild was done before 1945. But I could be wrong.

Took the evaporator off this DRA-2 to get the obstruction out of the float valve. Took the float valve out using a dremel with a carbide cone on it. Works well. Thought I would post a pic of it without the evaporator on it. Pretty interesting. Wooden box, center cover and wrapped compressor wiring.

Just to clarify,i used the Drexel to cut the three welds holding the float valve in the top. Dident open the float valve with it. Used a torch tip cleaner to push the obstruction out and cleanes it out with B-12

Yes they can be like time capsules , when they were going down the line . I’ve seen notes from one line person to another. Usually man to woman !
