Just wondering if GE made a chrome flattop? I’ve found one but wondering if this is factory? Seems like a lot of work to go to otherwise! flic.kr/p/2mgw72uThanks

I think those pictures have made the rounds before but I can't remember the details. If I remember it is a chrome powdercoat they used.

Interesting, thanks!
So powdercoat would suggest not factory? She wants $200 for it and has had it for sale for six months now.

Assuming it doesn't have a lot of issues, that's unique enough to be worth $200 in my opinion. And yeah, powdercoat isn't factory on these. They were either porcelain, or paint.

Does chrome powder coat look as shiny and reflective as that? It seems way too mirror like to me. And the sides look black and not great, like it's very old paint.

Alrighty, I’m going to to have a look then, thanks! It was her husband’s and he has since died. Says it needs a motor but doesn’t know anything more. Could be the relay or something simple hopefully . It’s close by so worth a look.

They would not take anyone's advice and therefore never figured out what was wrong. Most likely relay or control issue.

Well, I went to look at it…
It’s sitting outside for starters. Next is the “chrome”: I think from what I can gather a new chrome panel was put on, the metal is too thin and it isn’t flat. The sides have been painted as suggested. The dry goods bin at the bottom now just tips, looks like that was modified too. Only the one rack.
I decided it wasn’t worth the effort to me, I’ll look for a more intact one.
