My dad recently got a GE monitor top fridge from a house sale and we re-wired it, plugged it in and amazingly it worked like a charm! He let me put it in my garage where i finished up the sealing/gaskets and get to use it for a while. I wish i had found this forum before starting the restoration but oh well..
What I know:
1. Serial Number (located on left rear corner of top base, stamped metal tag): 40-812-308
(I believe this indicates it was rebuilt/overhauled in 1940. I can't find a model or serial on the compressor / heatsink assembly or anywhere else on the cabinet or top)
2. The machine pulls about 2 amps at 120V while running. No cabinet light or other electronics except for relay, compressor and controller.
3. The controller is missing the top knob. So i can't control on/off/defrost.
What I think I know:
1. I did some research based on the CK manual and I believe this is a CK-2-D16. This is based on the blue teardrop control knob, rounded/square cover plate (missing but outline is visible).
The inside temp and humidity graphs are shown below. The location of the sensor is on the top shelf as shown in the picture. With the temp control knob turned all the way clockwise, the unit cycles ~ every 2.5 hours, cools to 41-42 degF and then comes back on when temp reaches ~49 deg F.
Questions:
Does anyone know where I can find a new controller with both buttons?
Is the cooling satisfactory? The evaporator freezes up (although i spent a lot of time opening the doors to troubleshoot at first) and doesn't freeze water into ice yet.
Any tips or recommendations in general?
Thanks in advance! This is an awesome forum.
