I well second your praises of turbo as he goes by here . He has advanced the knowledge and how to fix these old fridges by light years!!! We have others that know these machines inside and out as well . I guess turbo has presented it where we haven’t seen it before. My thanks also !

2013 was the year my Dad said you know you should go out to my shop and defrost my old refrigerator. It had been a couple of years since he was able to even go to his shop much less do any work. I did as he asked and later when I went back to power it back on I found a frayed electrical cord and was afraid to plug it in. A gunsmiths shop is definitely not a great place for a fire. Fast forward to 2019. My Dad had been gone a little over five years and I inherited his CK1 that he bought at a surplus auction in Ft. Benning, GA. I began searching for info online and learned a lot by reading this forum. One day I took a shot and asked if there was anyone in the Southeast that could get the old girl up and running. Another member-David Allen replied that he could help and was in Northport Alabama. I probably would have driven to Timbuktu but fortunately for me David was only 3 hrs away. Please watch his CK 1 capillary tube conversion if you haven't already. That was my machine. I can't say enough about what a great guy he is! Not only knowledgeable and an expert restorer but also very kind and willing to share his knowledge. He understood the sentimental value to me and I'm happy to report that with his expertise, a little elbow grease and paint on my part she is up and running like new! Pictures to follow as soon as I figure out how to add them! Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm happy that you were able to repaint the top to match the cabinet. It looks great back in its home! I well second your praises of turbo as he goes by here . He has advanced the knowledge and how to fix these old fridges by light years!!! We have others that know these machines inside and out as well . I guess turbo has presented it where we haven’t seen it before. My thanks also ! Thanks again. Yes; there are others who are at least as proficient as I am - but I have had opportunities to share some of the repairs in high detail which may have not been shared this way in the past. I want to be sure people see what goes into a repair like this; and that it's not an overnight quick fix. I also want to prove that it's not a black art and impossible to undertake, given the time. For those who have found this post by searching, here is the original thread about the repairs: monitortop.freeforums.net/thread/2006/ Sincerely, David
