Hello Everyone, I recently acquired this GE Flat Top. It needs a repaint, rewire and door seal. It cools, makes ice, cycles on and off, mechanical operation seems fine. Because of the control panel I thought at first this was a CF, but then the compressor and condenser (thanks Cablehack!) make it look more like a CJ. The cabinet model B4-37A would indicate it was manufactured in 1937? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ray

Wow, that looks like a small version of a CF. Very cool. What sort of info are you looking for?

Thanks for replying Allen,
The compressor tag indicates the compressor is a CJ-1, does that mean the refrigerator is a CJ? Or could it be a CF? The thermostat looks like what would be on a CF.
Also I've seen pictures of the little tool on the inside right wall of the fridge, can you tell me its function?

Hi Ray..
This is definitely a cj1, due to the shallow evaporator and the cabinet used. Really nice design, I think the cj cabinet looks the most art deco of all the flat tops. My cj1 is from 38. Almost the same, except it has the single control and no chrome disk above the handle. Yours looks like it was the first cj model, hence the dual control the same as the cf. Though I recently saw a cf with the single control, so there must have been a crossover point around then that they were using both. Not sure about the tool. Mine came with a later tool for removing the ice from the quickice trays.

Thanks Karl,
I was wondering if this was a transitional model, or maybe some kind of hybrid. So it looks to definitely be a CJ-1 model.
I've seen a pic of the tool, can't remember where I saw it or what it's function was.
