Hello everyone. I am new to the forum and so far I am impressed with the work and ingenuity I have seen in the forum. I need some help with my new gem.
1. I need to replace the light socket in the General Electric CF-22-A16 Flattop I inherited from my grandmother. It's behind the evaporator and I don't see how to get to it. Can someone offer up the secret to getting the light socket out. I am afraid the wiring to it is compromised and I want to replace it. I have been able to get the compressor going with the help of the RO81 relay and overload device and it gets very cold. I have just ordered the Mars #62244 cold control as the bellows in the original control is not working. I took the cam type light switch off and apart to overhaul it. It had a broken spring and I just happened to have one of the same diameter. Had to cut it a little longer but it works good. Replaced the wires on the switch also. The Starting relay was shot, but I bought some magnet wire to rewind the solenoid. I have meters and loads that I can use to test and adjust it once rewound. Contacts are a little pitted but still work.
2. It also needs a new door gasket. The original is completely gone and I don't even know what the profile of it looks like. Any help in this would be welcome also. Thanks for any help you all can give me in advance. I have enjoyed reading a lot to the repair work that has be describe here.
I do have a copy of the "Service Manual General Electric Refrigerators with Scotch-Yoke Machines". It is a wealth of good information.
Not sure how to addd pictures, but I have some of the start relay, cam type light switch, cold control and refrigerator itself if any one can tell me how to post them.
Thanks again.
