All,
My 1939 GE Hotpoint model CE-140, stopped running over the weekend. I came to work on Monday morning and a pool of water was under the machine. Like others the wiring had been compromised due to old age. I replaced the wiring and relay with a Supco RO-81. I get the light to work but that is all. The compressor or fan doesn't seem to turn on. I would like to attach the wiring scheme I deciphered but the forum will not all it. Any thoughts on my stumbling block? How can I test the compressor that it still works? Thank you for any help as I would very much like to get this machine back online and chilling.

If you look in the top of this section you will find a little guide that I made on how to re wire a flat top. It has a few diagrams that I made. That may be able to help you out.

Sounds like the cold control might not be making connection.
