One of my customers has this GE chest freezer they bought after her and her husband married in 1950. Looks like it was always in a garage environment and the central Illinois humidity has gotten to the cabinet. Also someone ran into it on the right front corner. On its way to rusting out, been run into with a car but still full of food and working. Model 1HC-7-MA1 They still have their first refrigerator. Her husband gave it a magnetic latch for some reason.

What is the green thing at the bottom of the freezer? I want to assume a drain plug but it looks more like a light in the pictures?

Sorry Chris I didn't really look at it close. May have been a power light, didn't look like it was a plug.

Every time I see you post a freezer from the 50s this is the first thing that comes to mind. youtu.be/Rr6aFSOZEfkAlfred Hitchcock Presents S03E28 Lamb to the Slaughter

I will never look at an old chest freezer the same again. That was great, best 26 mins of my day, thanks.

I thought you were going to post that you took it home with you. She knew I have a collection and specifically said "You can't have my freezer" And since I haven't even told the wife about the 52 International freezer I plan to bring home soon I sure don't need another. Besides this is still her everyday freezer.

Does your wife like lamb? If so be cautious.

No she never buys lamb so if I see some in the freezer I will know she must have read this thread and I better watch out.
