Well, I'm super excited to have found this little CK-2-C16 gem close to my house. I know it's a little rough around the edges, but I love it. It was saved at the scrapyard and purchased, by me, for $100. It was plugged in and made frost before I loaded it and brought it home. Wow, these units are something else. I'm very grateful that folks on this forum have shared information regarding rewiring, which will be my first order of business. The racks need to be cleaned and the cabinet paint is chalky. I also think the handle is broken internally. The condenser seems to be pushed slightly in one direction, probably from someone laying the top down improperly. But like I said, I love it. Sorry about the low quality video. youtu.be/SwM_sbeCHdICheers Gary

Nice cabinet but that evaporator is REALLY crooked.

Thanks for correcting me. Yes, the evaporator is crooked. The door makes it look a little worse than it is. I won't be trying to straighten it. I imagine that would be a risky procedure. Gary

Hi Gary. The evaporator is definitely pushed up on the right side. The rest of the unit looks to be in nice shape! The CK machines are really long lasting - probably GE's best compressor design.
I would advise against trying to reposition or repair the evaporator unless you are prepared to repair a possible broken line and replace the lost SO2 charge.
You're very lucky to have the evaporator door, as well!

Thanks, David. I can live with a crooked evaporator. Again, it doesn't look that bad with the door off. I think the door is bent a little. The unit functions and I don't think I paid a great deal for it, considering my location wedged between NYC and Boston. Everything old here carries a premium except me, I'm just old.

Yeah, that area is not very hobbyist friendly with things like this. Too many folks thinking they have gold when it's really rusted junk LOL!
About the only common issue with the CK is need to rewire it. Other than that, they are nearly bulletproof.

That looks to be in pretty good shape. Great to know it cools before you got it. Glad you got a good price on it.
