I believe you could use an oil injector as mentioned already. I am not exactly sure how they work and it would have to be added through the hermetic service kit.

I believe you could use an oil injector as mentioned already. I am not exactly sure how they work and it would have to be added through the hermetic service kit. There are several types of oil injectors. The ones I am familiar with are basically a "chamber" which you fill with oil. Then, it has one charging hose connected to each end of it. You hook up to the high and low sides of the system, and flow refrigerant through from the high to the low side, pushing the oil from the injector into the system.
Another type has a screw threaded stem, which works like a syringe or pump. This is the type you'd need for injecting into the hermetic kit on a MT since there's no low-side port.
You can de a Google search and see lots of examples.

If I understand you correctly the hot water treatment has got it working again not once but 2 times. If so I’d take a weekend or time when you can babysit it and do it several times. It’s the easiest thing to do and doesn’t cost anything.
If that doesn't work I’m afraid you’re in for more series work .

Hi guys Defrosting tonight because she’s clogged again. Planing on the hot water trick for tomorrow am. Have found since last post back in October that it happens once every couple of mos. So she picks the times to defrost, since I’ve found the best way to deal with it is to turn off, let defrost overnight and do the hot water pan the following am. Restart.

I wonder if the float is sticking? Is that a possibility?

I’ve thought about that..but the fact that the hot water trickhas gotten it going in the past..I assumed the clog or impurity was getting stuck there? But maybe both? I’ve wondered about the heavy magnets used to lift the floats, but not sure where to get one..and the right kind.

It sounds very similar to what happens to my 36 flat top. Tell me this, do you hear the compressor making a strange noise when you find it like this? With mine, I’m pretty sure the unloader in the compressor is sticking open. Usually if you do what you’re doing it will fire back up. You can usually hear a slightly delayed response from the unloader kicking out though.

Hi CKfan No I don’t hear a lot of difference. What I hear is so slight, that it’s would be easy to not notice. However with this little quirk she has..my ear is so tuned to it that I can tell. And of course approaching her and feeling the temp of compressor let’s me know. And if this happens during the night, I’ll find she’s defrosted by morning. This last time, I heard something..and caught before it had a chance to even defrost. Also if I don’t hear her cycle off. I’ve had a FEA unit (still have it stored) and FEA compressor sounds very different from a CK

I think the best way to describe the sound is that it’s quieter..no percolation sounds

Hello Stan I also have a ck but mine is a ck b16 Its worked great for two years now no problems, but Periodically I make it work by putting in hot water and making it work harder . It’s just my opinion but I think they need a little work out now and then at least the cks .
So having said that , I would really give it a good work out . Open the door and put some good hot water pans in the evaporator . Let the condenser get good and warm keep it going for a while. Make it work and flush the oil out of the evaporator. At this point it’s the easiest thing to do and try .
If it doesn’t work then we can at least cross that off the list . But it seems like what you’re doing, may not be aggressive enough, it’s not clearing what ever is causing the problem .

I may try that So far she's been good. With machinery of this age I've always a Hippocratic oath..so to speak..in the back of my mind.. First do no harm. So ur right I have not be aggressive.
