Looking for some advice, owner says unit doesn’t maintain temp well but compressor runs. I do industrial hvac for a living so I can fix. But looking to see what year and specs of this unit. Ck-26-B16 7819327
Asking $300, which I believe is a fair asking price but not 100% sure.

That would be the last monitor top they made from 1938. It uses sulphur dioxide as a refrigerant. They are very reliable and it is strange to find one that doesn’t get down to a proper temp. It could be a few different issues. Honestly, one that has a known issue like that isn’t worth $300. Not in that condition. I like those models but it would have to be mint to command that price.

You’re welcome. If I were you I would see if it has it’s racks, glass chiller tray, and any accessories like ice trays or an ice tray lifter tool on the door. Those add value. If it has its racks and is in decent shape I would offer less money and see where it goes. I always hate haggling people but then again I know what these are really worth. I would be comfortable paying $100 for it but then again I have too many of them!

Hi Philbilly
Welcome I have the same one setting in my garage and it’s smaller brother they both work well and think the look is very unique ! I payed 75$ for the B and 200 $ for the A . The a is complete the b missing a rack and of course the chiller tray. But they are both good runners and should give me no problems. 🤪 But in the end what’s it worth to you? Personal I think 300$ is a little high if it is not complete, missing rack ,chiller tray . So I would offer less , but that’s your call .
It well need rewired for sure ,check cord and see how much it we’ll bend without cracking? Also wiring under deck that feeds the motor well need replacing too . Theres how to rewire, on this site to help .,
Good luck ,and let us know what happens!

Thanks for the input, I was unable to get price down...owners were very attached had machine for 40 years. Found an earlier ck in better condition, seeing if I can get it bought. Out of curiosity where should frost on evap be if operating normally, read through the service manual but couldn’t determine proper operation.

The whole evaporator except for the top of the suction header and obviously, the dead metal support on the right side should be frosted over.
