As you can see, it's in need of paint. It does have the evaporator door and glass chiller tray, though.
So tomorrow will be a roadtrip day!
Sincerely, David

Looks almost like it's had a paint job once before. I am sure the next one will be better.

Looks almost like it's had a paint job once before. I am sure the next one will be better. Yep I think you're right that it's had the typical "over optimistic homeowner paintjob" with left-over house paint applied with a roller or brush LOL!

That’s a neat unit. Looks like gills sort of. I’m guessing a 39?

Good luck picking it up! Sorry about the paint job. The flat tops are a neat refinement to the design, and sadly underappreciated in general.

Huh, I didn't realize the pre-1940 flat tops had the bottom of the float chamber protrude into the cabinet like that.
By the way, what is the story with that CK on the porcelain cabinet?

Huh, I didn't realize the pre-1940 flat tops had the bottom of the float chamber protrude into the cabinet like that. By the way, what is the story with that CK on the porcelain cabinet? Yep I was surprised to see that. Sort of makes sense, though. It seems there's a single layer steel plate as the roof of the cabinet. The float is welded into the top layer of the CK's deck, with about that much of the chamber inside the insulation space above the cabinet. With the CF design, that insulation space is above the sheet of metal where the float chamber has to be located.
As for that CK, I'm going to be rewiring it and repairing a broken control sensing tube. It has been discussed before, in this thread: monitortop.freeforums.net/thread/1210 It just happens that the owners live a few miles from my friend's place who saved the CF flat-top for me. Was initially going to stop by and help identify the parts needed to fix it; so their local technician could install the parts when the parts were found. But after talking and finding the broken tube, we decided that it would be better for me to bring it here and make the necessary repairs. It has some unusual traits to it and will be starting a thread about it soon.
