I've had my Cf-2 for about 20 years and have loved it from day 1. When a family on my street was moving away I asked to walk through their house to see how the interior layout differed from my house. This is a 1925 subdivision and all of the homes have subtle differences. Anyway I was delighted to see a vintage GE refrigerator in thier basement and asked what they were going to do with it. They were going to junk it so I asked to have it and they agreed.
I carted it down the street to my house and have been using it ever since as a beer/beverage refrigerator. The issues I'm having are not new. In fact the machine has been having them since day 1 but I just haven't dealt with it.
1) it needs a new door seal. The seal is hard as a rock and leaks badly. Anyone know where I can get a replacement door seal?
2) the thermostat doesn't seem to work. Or at least not very well. The storage temp is usually colder than it should be so I thin the compressor is running too much. The temp dial doesn't seem to do anything. Anyone know of a repair source for that thermostatic control?
TIA for any assistance. This machine looks like new on the outside and pretty damn good inside as well. I'll attach some pics.

Hi Pete! Welcome and glad you're enjoying your GE fridge! It's amazing what people will do with something like that. So glad you saved this from certain death!
The door gaskets are very important for these fridges as they cause too much ice buildup on the evaporator if they aren't sealing well. Depending on the cabinet style, there may be gasket material available at Grainger Industrial Supply, at Lowe's and Home Depot; of the adhesive backed type.
The control can be out of calibration for a variety of reasons. Does the compressor cycle off at all?
Once you post your pictures, it will help with troubleshooting advice and gasket sourcing.
Sincerely, David

Hi there and welcome. That’s a neat story and I’m sure the fridge is lovely. I personally use the McMaster Carr baskets listed in the supplier section. They work great. Only trouble is that you have to buy a lot at once I believe. For someone like me that makes sense. For just one fridge it really doesn’t. Here is a link to the suppliers page where you can see the part numbers. monitortop.freeforums.net/thread/45/suppliers

I believe this is the one I have used with great success. 93085K14 It’s just a peel and stick but if you clean the fridge up enough it will be very good.

I can attest to how tenacious the adhesive is on these. If you remove all traces of dirt and rust from the door, the new gasket will stick permanently the first time it touches and you better be sure it's in the right place when that happens! LOL!
