Everyone that's a regular here knows I am biased towards the DR's. That being said, I do investigate nearly all the local vintage refrigerators ads. This had been for sale awhile. I had been ignoring it as I didn't really want to hear Ray ask me where I would put it. The ad stated 1936 and didn't have a picture. I finally called about it and went to look. It's the smaller 6 cu ft 1937 model. This is my favorite CK model, being that it's weird. There's no reason that this model was made with the unit on top. It's as if the engineers were getting their last giggle at putting it up on top, before banishing it down below. This particular unit has been in continuous use. It was the sellers parents first refrigerator. He had owned it since the 70's. It has 2.5 of it's 3.5 shelves. It runs fine and is in good shape for being original. It did have an iceberg in the evap. I gave it a long overdue defrosting.

Yes, if anything, it does have a light! So does my wood cabinet DR! Your DR cabinet is very special. This one simply required a new lightbulb.

Funny that you posted and just acquired this. I got this from the same place as my DR3 (and same trip as my working very well DR1).
I saw the evap and said holy crap. When I powered up my CK-26, it the condensor got really hot, really quick, but the evap also got very cold, very quick.
My only problem is that most of the screws holding the textolite to the inner liner seem to be f**ked. As in, I barely turn, and the head comes off, which means screw extraction time. With that said, any other suggestions? It appears that most of my insulation is deteroirated inside, so I'd like to restore this and use it as my beer fridge (replacing the CA Form A that's getting a new home working in my barn, with the other CA).
Unlike you, my bias seems to be both DRs and CKs. I'm really loving these DR1s and the ones that work, work REALLY good!

That's the only downside of a DR - no cabinet light. You have one of these too IIRC, Herb. In fact, I think you almost sold me yours. To make you jealous, my CK-26 cost me $100, and it came with 2 glass chiller trays and ALL the shelves (I don't need to, since it'll be a beer fridge).

I lied - it's actually a CK-28-A15 (thanks to steel wool). Close enough, anyways.
