Wow, that is pristine inside! Great job on the supports too. From below, mine looks like it has pin holes rusted through. So I'm a bit afraid to see what is waiting inside.

So I'm a bit afraid to see what is waiting inside. Overall, it's in really great shape. Seems to be all original and was loved or not used much. The bottom textolite mottling and the surface rust is not surprising in the Houston humidity. The hooks worked pretty well-I was impressed when the whole unit lifted out. The assembly is surprisingly simple and easy from a service standpoint. Reminds me of an old car versus a new car, everything can be unbolted, repaired and reassembled.

Thanks guys. So phase 2 of disassembly. I copied a version of the lifting hooks per page 153 and 154 of the scotch yoke manual. It was a little awkward but a friend and I were able to lift it out. Don't look too close at the welds. With the compressor assembly removed, the inner cabinet lifted straight out the top - leaving more cardboard. ☺ Finally the empty cabinet. Surprisingly good shape - minor surface rust in places but no real corrosion. Couple of brass crimps found in the bottom of the cabinet. I dropped the racks off at the plater's this morning with the hinge caps, handles, etc. It'll be a month or two before they're ready but I might be able to trade some brass casting piece work for the plating. Either way I'll have plenty of time to paint the cabinet. Oh yeah, the other ' 41 fridge arrived yesterday. Its a jb6 that has slightly different trim and handles vs the current LBX6. I'll start another thread on it when I start the tear down. This was the one that had the original chiller tray. I plan to resin cast a copy of it when I get time. What is the scotch yoke manual?

Looks like you’re making good progress on it. I like how you took the unit out. The scotch yoke manual covers all of the CK, CG (globe top), LK (lift top), and CF along with all the other flat top models. It is in the CK section.

Wow that cabinet interior is sure in good shape! Looks like the lifting mechanism did a good job, as well.
