This sexy little fridge is coming home. Look, it's a bolted compressor and should be a breeze to repair. This will make up for my leaking DR2 that's being delivered any minute.

"Vacation"? What does that do? Also, what's this about a leaky DR-2?

"Vacation" turns it up just a noodge. So stuff won't freeze if no one opens the door for 3 weeks.

I have a compressor sort of like that. But metallic green, and for methyl chloride refrigerant.
Lordy only knows what it's from or what it goes to. But it's pinched and sealed.

Isn't methyl chloride great? Flammable AND poisonous! .. and the odor so sweet and innocent. Like a bunny rabbit of death.

Ahh yes. So many of the old "natural" refrigerants had hidden surprises. Lovely combinations of explosive, toxic, carcinogenic, combustible, corrosive, caustic. Musical chairs of ways to die.
I wonder if we had as many stupid ice-pick/machete related defrosting accidents back then. Darwinism at it's finest!

It's just the refrigerators way of getting revenge!

I've actually read horror stories of people being lulled to their final sleep when a methyl chloride leak occurred. Scary stuff. At least SO2 will wake you up.

Yeah, the fact that SO2 is mind-blowingly intolerable well before toxicity becomes an issue is its greatest safety virtue. I'm convinced methyl chloride was responsible for "deadly gases in refrigerators that kills families at night" stories.

I would bet the farm that if the CK in my kitchen were to spring a leak in the middle of the night, Brandi would just shrug it off as dinner not agreeing with me. We'd both wake up dead.
