Here is something to brighten your day. These were the only two refrigerator ads that I found out of 12 magazines from the 30s and 40s. Look how happy the kid is while he is opening the Kelvinator door. I love these old ads! I saw a very nice Crosely Shelvador in a museum in Michigan. I guess the fella that came up with shelves on the door tried to sell it to all the major manufacturers, but no one liked it. Crosley liked it, and the Shelvador changed the industry. www.refresearch.com/Social-Media/ArtMID/432/ArticleID/13/The-Shelvador-RefrigeratorWonderful collection in their basement. If you have never been, I implore you to make the pilgrimage.

I made a post a while back about that website. I'm glad that you got to go see those beauties. I would love to see that collection, they even have a Gunrow! I wonder if he was successful in selling the idea to Coldspot because mine has a door rack and it is from the 30s I believe. Although they didn't plug it in for me, they told me the Grunow still runs; with its low pressure refrigerant, it is an oddity.
Nice Coldspot! I don't know much more about it than what the article describes.
That collection also includes a running Savage Arms condensing unit, as well as a working Audiffren-Singren. Both are very odd machines, but extremely beautiful.

The Grunrow is an oddity. I want one someday...along with an Williams Ice-O-Matic. Those would be my two holy grails of oddities to find. I want to get my coldspot going again. I need to do some metal work to it to get the door to close right. Otherwise it works flawlessly. I also want to see that savage arms compressor and the Audiffren-Singren. I think that both of those would be quite interesting to see. The savage arms compressor really confuses me as to how it works! I can't seem to find which one at the moment, but when I do, I'll photograph it. The thing amazes me too! www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVBsFG47aoM

Holy vibrations batman! Seeing that thing in action is impressive. I knew the whole compressor rotated about but I didn't think it would be like that. Thank you so much for posting that link. You would think that it would shake the tubing right off!

We have been looking for a good picture of any of the Williams ice o matic machines. If you could post some pictures of it in your own thread under this same section it would generate much more interest.

Is the one you have a belt drive unit? 6 doors is more than I can handle by the way, full up now.
