I plan to soak in all of this info, and again fellas, I really appreciate it! Just to let you know I got my RO-81 for less than $6.00 and shipped to me for a total just over $8.00. Since I don't know about posting on here just where I got it I can let you know through messaging here. Or if an Admin sees this and it is okay to post, just let me know.

After talking to Travis today I now understand more about how Chrsjs relay was modified. It might be possible to just use something like the Supco ICG1 relay. Leave the original cold control, overload and wiring in place and wire this in to control the start winding. www.supco.com/images/09%20relay%20&%20hardstarts.pdfThat looks a lot easier to wire in, and that clip might actually not break off. But where exactly would I wire this in? And what about the compressor wires attached to the old relay?

But where exactly would I wire this in? And what about the compressor wires attached to the old relay? I had one of these in my box of tricks at my storage bin. Drove over and got it since I can't seem to find the wiring instructions on the net. You would remove the red run wire from #3 of your old relay and the white common wire from#5 of the old relay. Hook them together with the stripped lead of the ICG1. and the lead with the connector would go to the white start winding lead that is on #1 of your old relay after removing the wire from the relay. This would be diagram #3 in the instructions of the ICG1. Hope this helps.

Thanks Coldspaces, that is simple enough. I will order one and try it! I think I will rewire the top like Travis has recommended, only keeping the same configuration. But, I would like to know how it is possible to do this without removing the refrigerator tray and draining the system. Is that possible? I really do appreciate the effort and help from everyone.

So,
Supco responded, sadly with "We do not have any knowledge for your type of application."

They just show some basic wiring diagrams. The guy from Supco sent me a much larger version, but every one shows both line connections in use as well as the common out. I can't post here as it's a PDF but it's of no help.

It sounds like it's time to cut one open.

I still can see how I need to wire through the cold switch first with the hot line in if I were going to use this relay. I do want to rewire it as Travis recommended. I am also thinking that I need to turn it on it's head again if I can get enough friends together to help. It sounds "dry" if that makes any sense. Turning it upside down for about an hour worked before. I sure am missing this thing running.
